IS YOUR PHONE'S BATTERY LIFE DRAINING TOO QUICKLY?
Do I Need a Battery Replacement ? - If your cell phone battery isn't holding a charge like it used to, or is not charging, you may need a new battery. Bring your phone to us and we can help to identify if the problem is the battery itself or a combination of other factors. You may not need a new battery if you can find what is causing the problem.
If you have short battery life, or your phone doesn't seem to be charging like it should, take a look at these possible solutions.
Check the charger cable - verify that the charger cable is the correct one for your phone. Also, make sure there are no cuts or worn areas on the cable. The iPhone charger cable is notorious for 'wearing a turtleneck' when it's time to replace it.
Check Which Apps Are Draining the Battery - In Apple's iOS 8, you can view battery usage by app at Settings > General > Usage. On Android OS, you can view usage stats at Settings > Battery to view usage by app.
Turn Off Unnecessary Hardware Radios - Do you use any Bluetooth devices (earpiece, Fitbit, iWatch)? If not, consider turning it off. GPS is likely the largest drain on the battery, but if you rarely use GPS functions, maybe you can turn it off.
Apps Polling In the Background - Some apps will continue to poll in the background - email apps, Facebook, Twitter, map apps, location apps. Change the frequency of polling if that option is available, or set polling to manual.
Low Signal Strength - Are you spending more time in a new area of town recently? If you are spending time in an area of town that has low signal strength, your phone may be spending more time polling for cell phone towers. If you are on the road between towns for extended periods of time, you will notice a quick drop in battery life. There's not much you can do about this, but if you don't require data and calling while on the road, put your phone in Airplane Mode when you are not using your phone.
